Like everybody else. . .

1) Who have you met in real life after meeting them online? I don't really think I've met anyone online. I prefer people I meet in real life.

2) Who do you want to meet? I would like to meet a lot of people, especially someone who wants to give me a job.

3) If you could punch one person, who would it be? Oh jeez, just one punch? If I punched our president, do you think I could knock some sense into him?

4) Name one person you love, and why: I LOVE my grandma! She is the most caring and most accepting person I've ever known. She's really been there for me.

5) Who is your enemy? I'd like to think that I don't have one.

6) Who is your oldest friend? How long have you known them? Alicia is probably my friend that I have known the longest. We met sometime in elementary school, but only became close during high school.

7) Who do you talk to most on IM? I don't.

8) If you had to get married now, who would you want to marry? I don't have to get married now.

9) Would you eat sushi? Not if it has fish in it. I don't eat anything with blood.

10) Would you flip off the president? Unlike my classy friends, I think I might.

11) Would you live in a different country? Sure. My dream is to hole myself up in a cabin in Switzerland with a piano, my trumpet, some staff paper, and a TON of records. I want to have the time to really shed.

12) Would you set yourself on fire? No! I'm not like one of those monks who can meditate in flames.

13) Would you date someone younger than you? Sure, why not?

14) Orange juice or apple juice? Orange, but Trader Joe's makes the very best Mango, Orange, Peach juice. It's delicious.

15) Cars or boats? Subways.

16) Favorite type of sock? Warm, without holes.

17) Long or short hair? I try to grow mine out, but I can't handle it. I guess I have to go with short.

18) TV or movie? I do enjoy both. If I have a long attention span, then a movie. If not, good ol' tv.

19) What is your favorite musical instrument? Probably the piano. Hmmmmm, I do enjoy the trumpet and bass clarinet though. Tough question.

20) Do you like walks in the park? I LOVE walks in the park. I'm looking forward to living in New York so I can walk through Central Park. It's huge!

21) Do you think you're attractive? On occasion.

22) Do you believe in life after love? Of course.

23) Do you believe in miracles? Why not?

24) Do you memorize random facts? I know way more random facts than necessary! Ask me something. It's very likely I"ll know the answer. I'm a nerd,

25) Do you ever use your full name? Not often.

26) Have you ever made a promise you'd die to keep? I can't think of anything I've promised that is worth dying for.

27) Have you ever written a song? I prefer to leave that up to Ez; he's great at that shit.

28) Have you ever beat someone up? No, but I did punch Matt Polson in the nose after he bent my finger back.

29) Have you ever made a blood oath? No. I keep my blood to myself thanks.

30) Have you ever been in a mosh pit? Yes. Yes I have.

31) Have you ever snuck anyone into your house? I never had to.

32) Have you been on drugs? Nothing illegal.

33) Last time you were really really mad? I get a little mad fairly often, but I don't remember the last time I was really mad.

34) Do animals go to Heaven? Do any of us go to heaven?

35) If you could change one thing about yourself, it would be: my depression & procrastination.

36) Are all the pigs lined up? No, they are disorderly.

37) What is one thing that annoys you? Questions about pigs.

38) How are you feeling right now? Okay.

39) Last hug? Just about 45 minutes ago.

40) What does the world need less of? Hunger, anger, pollution, war. . .

41) Make up your own question. When was the last time you played Barbies with a 5 year-old? Well, actually, I played Barbies tonight. I didn't really miss it. . .

Coming Back!

I just purchased my plane ticket back to Eau Claire! I'll be flying into Minneapolis & arriving at 1:20 pm on January 16th. I still don't know where I'm going to live, or who I'm going to stay with until I find a place. If you have a couch I can crash on for a few days please let me know. I'm hoping to give all of my friends a call over Christmas break. I know all of you are extremely busy right now & I don't want to add to your stress. I hope everyone is doing well & that your semester is wrapping up okay. I miss all of you & I'm super excited to see you in just one month!!!

Okay, so I'll do a Survey Thingy

YEAR-END SURVEY

1.) Where did you bring in 2006? With my Dad and Tammy at their house.

2.) What was your status by Valentine's Day? Well, that's usually complicated. I got a really sweet valentine from Ez & I had a great date with Shane Leonard. Speaking of Shane, have any of you talked to him recently? He still has some of my stuff (I hope).

3.) Were you in school (anytime this year)? Actually, no! I did, however, play in the Scottsdale Community College Big Band.

4.) How did you earn your keep? I worked at a music store in Boise, I spent 2 LONG weeks at a crazy charter school in Phoenix, took old rich people to tables at a 5 diamond resort, and sang.

5.) Did you ever have to go to the hospital? I think all of my hospitalling occurred in 2005.

6.) Have you ever encountered the police? Not in a negative way.

7.) Where did you go on vacation? Most of my travelling isn't really a vacation. I went to New York twice & went home a couple of times.

8.) What did you purchase that was over $500? Plane tickets, a trumpet, and a flugelhorn.

9.) Did you know anybody who got married? I think I just went to two weddings: Jason & Ivanna and Alex & Tyler. They both were great!

10.) Did you know anybody who passed away? I'm sure I did. I just can't remember right now. I think my Uncle Bill died this year, but it could've been last year.

11.) Have you ran into anybody you graduated high school with? Probably. I saw my best friend Alicia & we went to high school together. It's a lot easier to run into high school buddies when you live in the same state.

12.) Did you move anywhere? Oh my god, that's an understatement! I moved to Boise, then to Scottsdale, now back to Boise, soon to return to Eau Claire.

13.) What sporting events did you go to? I believe I managed to escape all sporting events!

14.) What concerts did you go to? I saw a ton of AMAZING concerts this year!! Besides all of the great stuff at IAJE (Maria Schneider, John Hollenbeck, Monty Alexander. . .) and the awesome people at Centrum (Ingrid Jensen, Benny Green, Jon Wikan, George Cables, Steve Wilson. . .), I saw Geri Allen, the Village Vanguard Band, Ez's Quartet, the Quartet of Happiness, Billy Hart's Academy, my friends in the Uprite Dub Orchestra, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some. It was a wonderful year for music.

15.) Are you registered to vote? Not currently. I think I'll register when I plan to be somewhere longer than 4 months.

16.) If so, did you do your patriotic duty on Nov. 7? No, but I will next November when I'm in New York.

17.) Where do you live now? I've lived in Boise for a whole 21 hours.

18.) Describe your birthday. It was really nice. Barry made omelets, I went to big band rehearsal, my mom and I went to the Desert Botanical Gardens, I ate lots of fabulous Mexican food & drank even more terriffic margaritas, watched some sweet Oscar Peterson, and ate some Harvest Pie (it's delicious). I had a nice day.

19.) What's the one thing you thought you would never do but did in 2006? Get serious about the trumpet, live in Arizona, gain this much weight. . .

20.) What is one thing you regretted this year? Leaving my laptop on the floor - it got stepped on.

21.) What's something you learned about yourself? I can be okay even if I don't play trombone.

22.) Any new additions to your family? I don't think so.

23.) What was your best month? July. The last week in July was quite possibly the best week of my life.

24.) What from pop culture will you remember 2006 by? Watching all of the terrible reality shows with Ez on E!

25.) How would you rate this year with a scale from 1 (shitty) to 10 (the shit)? It's really been a roller coaster. I wouldn't call 2006 a good year, but some parts of it were nice. Maybe a 4 or 5. I really think 2007 is looking up!

Home

Well, I made it! I must say that I get better and better at moving each time I do it. I was even able to organize my things as I packed them. That NEVER happens.

It was nice walking into my mom's house. I really feel at home here. I only lived here for 5 months, but it's the closest thing to home I've got. Her house is quiet, not just aurally, but visually. I feel like I can relax here. I don't want to relax too much though, 'cause I have some serious trumpet to practice. I'm excited to practice again. I haven't been in the habit for a long time, but I'm ready to jump back in. Hopefully I'll get in a band back in Eau Claire. The trumpet studio is strong, but there should be a place for me too!

I thought I would have more to say, but I don't really have the energy. I'll update when inspiration hits me - don't hold your breath.

Miss you and love you all.

Heather

bed time

I suppose I should try to get some sleep. I've got some serious packing/cleaning to do tomorrow, plus I have a jazz band concert. It will be my trumpet debut folks. Wish me luck on the high notes!!

Hooray!!

I sold my trombone! It was kind of a big ordeal; I'll spare you the details. In the end, I was able to purchase a trumpet and the flugelhorn that I have been renting & walk away with $15. I feel like an actual trumpet player now, not a poser trombone player. Yay for me!

stressed

My birthday was great.

I'm playing lead trumpet for a concert on Monday (AHHH!).

I haven't been able to find anyone to buy my trombone.

I hate moving.

My mom is here visiting! Yay! It will be nice to have her around the next couple of days. She's even gong to church with us this morning. Weird. Church. It's weird for me going to church, but I'll pretty much go anywhere if I get paid.

My birthday is tomorrow. I don't really care.

Your 1996 Theme Song Is: Ironic by Alanis Morisette

It's so true. At one point, Alicia and I thought that it was the theme song for my life. Speaking of Alicia, she made me the most AMAZING birthday card, complete with 13 stanzas of incredible haiku. It's all about my not-so-secret crush on this teacher from my high school. Alicia decided years ago that Mr. Haring and I are destined to be together. I'm not so sure about that, but the idea is funny. I love it.

Well, off to church.

HUGE!

I've gained so much weight since I moved here. Holy shit! I've got to lose like 40 pounds so you guys in Eau Claire will recognize me when I return. Ugh!
